Hello @all.

Thanks to Jürgens recommendation to chameleon in our Cantabile-forum, I'm now very happy to play around with this wonderful colour changing reptile. A lot of good ideas and I'm already fallen in love with Chameleon. Thumbs up and MAXIMIUM RESPECT to Mr SaveTheHuman5!

As a keyboard-player I'm using Cantabile with a second touchscreen for remote control and, in conjunction with Chameleon, this touchscreen could become a stunning instrument for a huge number of remoting purposes. But (!!!), the lack of midi-inputs for Chameleon-objects (supporting solely midi-out), like sliders, knobs, the xy-pad and page-button, seems to me the major obstacle for a useful integration into my keyboard-setup.

It would be great if you could solve this problem.

Best regards, Peter from Aachen, Germany

In the next version all will be a lot more clear on editor.
I think tomorrow night probably I upload a new video to show what is coming,
Anyway xy-pad and page-button  not support MIDI in, at least for next version, page buttons support MIDI in 🙂

Hi Jürgen,

thanks for your respond.

I already realized the extended Midi-In settings for Chameleon object, but only for button objects! For all other midi-relevant  objects above these settings are disabled. That's my point.

So, for example, you can't use Chameleons-Faders as virtual motor-faders on your touchscreen and it's not possible to change Chameleons pages from outside and much, much more. In other words, Chameleon works only as a Midi-master, a "nogo" in most application.

Best regards, Peter

Hi SaveTheHuman5,

nice to hear that. What about sliders, knobs and encoders?

That's not correct because sliders are working in both ways !

.....so for slider input you can use the same controller than for output

the sliders are working perfect with cantabile ....no jumping no hanging

(My sliders are working  ? )

Okay, I checked that and you're right.

The three standard slider and the cross fader do, the two inertial sliders and bar sliders do not receive midi. My mistake was to check only with inertial sliders. (All tested with Bome MT.)

That's awesome, thank you so much. For now standard sliders and buttons are enough for me to get started with Chameleon. Yeah!

Objects react to MIDI IN:
All buttons, with exception of page buttons, what will be available probably in the upcoming update.
Ableton buttons are special clip buttons for Ableton live.
Standard sliders.
All knobs with exception of auto reset knob.

Encoders are encoders, and as encoders not require MIDI IN.
Mode 0-127 is there for encoders duet some older DJ software support scrub wheel only under 0 to 127 mode....strange lol.
Anyway a new encoder object is needed, should be capable of report status of the controlled knob, you know one encoder with led lights or a bar. Already on the to-do.
On the upcoming version, will be possible setup custom encoder mode, that open the door also to use Chameleon for construct your Mackie MCU.    The to-do is super large, so again I suggest start request what really is a higher priority for create you custom template or at least to start to work.

Thank you for clarifying and for your patience. After too little tests I've drawn wrong conclusions. My fault, I'm sorry. (Even all knobs, hehe.)

So, except the page buttons, nothing left with higher priority from my side!

Kind regards, Peter
